The Year of Recommended Reading: Sorcery & Cecelia

The Year of Recommended Reading: Sorcery & Cecelia

Last year I got to participate in a ridiculously fun blogger collaboration, Tracking Down Tunes, with a ridiculously awesome blogger, Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books. As 2016 came to a close, we were chatting about how much we wanted to do another feature together, and how this one should center around books somehow. We came up with The Year of Recommended Reads to work on getting through some of the books that have been sitting on our TBR piles forever, as well as to have a reason to force each other to read books that we think the other would like! 😉 Without further ado, the book for this month was …. Make sure you visit Alexa’s post about her experience with this book over at Alexa Loves Books! Why I wanted to read this book: For this month, this question is almost more of “Why I wanted Alexa to read this book:” and it’s a pretty simple answer: BECAUSE THIS BOOK IS AMAZING. But no, really – this was one of my absolute favorite books/series as a teenager, and I was actually pretty surprised that Alexa hadn’t yet read it; it seemed totally up her alley! One of the great things […]

Tracking Down Tunes: Pump It Up

Tracking Down Tunes: Pump It Up

For this project, Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books and I have decided to expand our musical interests, while also recommending to each other some of our favorite songs! Each month Alexa and I will be creating and sharing a themed Spotify playlist at the beginning of the month (for the songs we listened to/found the month prior). The idea is that out of the 10 songs that we add to the playlist, at least 5 of them have to be brand new to us – the others are allowed to be songs that we’ve listened to and loved (but should fall under recommendations to each other.) The whole idea here is to find bands and artists that we fall in love with that we may never have looked for if not for us actively Tracking Down Tunes! This month we’re talking about the songs we listen to when we need to get energized, motivated, or just need a jump in our day! (Head over to Alexa’s post to see which 10 songs she added to the playlist, and why!) Good Times | INXS with Jimmy Barnes The first time I heard this song was when I saw the movie The Lost Boys, and I […]

Tracking Down Tunes: Date Night Songs

Tracking Down Tunes: Date Night Songs <3

One month in to my collab project with Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books and I’m still so psyched to have come up with this project with her! Alexa and I will be creating and sharing a themed Spotify playlist at the beginning of the month (for the songs we listened to/found the month prior). The idea is that out of the 10 songs that we add to the playlist, at least 5 of them have to be brand new to us – the others are allowed to be songs that we’ve listened to and loved (but should fall under recommendations to each other.) This month was all about date night – songs that evoke feelings of love, giddiness, and that sweet blush across your cheeks. I have always been a huge fan of “sappy songs,” as I used to call them when I was younger (some constant additions to my playlists? Bryan Adams’ Everything I Do, OMD’s If You Leave, Police’s Every Breath You Take …which is a lot creepier to listen to as an adult, not gonna lie.) Here’s what I’ve come up with this month – my 10 date night songs! (Head over to Alexa’s post to see which 10 songs she added […]

Tracking Down Tunes | Songs on Repeat!

Tracking Down Tunes | Songs on Repeat!

One blogger that I have been absolutely loved getting to know better over 2015 is the lovely Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books! She has been so supportive and kind about all of my blogging endeavors, and takes the time out of her busy schedule to comment on my posts and I have been beyond grateful for everything she’s done for me over the past year. That being said, I’m also beyond psyched to share with y’all this idea that Alexa and I have been working on this year! At the end of last year I shared a post about My Year In Music, and commented that I tended to find something I loved and just listen to it over and over and over … and over … and over … and over. I’m okay with this insomuch as I will never ever ever get tired of the music … but I also really want to branch out and make sure I’m not missing out on all the amazing music that’s out there! To this end, Alexa and I will be creating and sharing a themed Spotify playlist at the beginning of the month (for the songs we listened to/found the month prior). The idea is that […]
