Top Ten Tuesday: Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list making meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and it’s one of my favorite things about book blogging! Each week is a fun new topic for us all to flail over, and I love creating my own list just as much as I love perusing everyone else’s! I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic? Top Ten Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start (…but haven’t) Just one small precursory thing before y’all start reading this … I really have no good excuse for any of this. *hangs head* Okay, so I’ve owned Finnikin of the Rock for about, oh, um, three years now?? I really have no good excuse for why I haven’t started this series yet, especially considering it has (wonderfully) wrecked so many of my friends’ lives!! I have read two of Susanna Keasley’s books and they were both SO. DAMN. GOOD. I own 4 (FOUR!) of her other books, but have yet to read them (two of which are from this series, The Slains). The best reason I can come up with is that her books are very […]

Top Ten Tuesday: All Time Favorite Books of All Time Ever

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list making meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and it’s one of my favorite things about book blogging! Each week is a fun new topic for us all to flail over, and I love creating my own list just as much as I love perusing everyone else’s! I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic? So this was basically an impossible question, which is why I’ve decided to do what I want and pick 24 books instead of 10 and break it into 5 sub genres because seriously, how else I am supposed to do this? It’s also still ridiculously impossible to pick absolute favorites, so I’ve sort of interpreted this as books that have stayed with me in some way – a book that I can still talk about as though I’ve read it yesterday, even if it’s been 5-15 years since I’ve read it. If You Give A Moose A Muffin | Fantastic Flying Books | Harold and the Purple Crayon If I ever have children, these 3 books will be the foundation and cornerstone of the […]

Top Ten Tuesdays: Book Reports I’d Love to Write

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list making meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and it’s one of my favorite things about book blogging! Each week is a fun new topic for us all to flail over, and I love creating my own list just as much as I love perusing everyone else’s! I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic? Back to School Freebie – My pick?? I LOVED school, like, A LOT. I don’t fancy paying to put myself through college right about now, but during the back to school months I get so wistful for back to school shopping and homework assignments and readings and all the fun that comes with it! One thing I really do miss, more than absolutely everything? BOOK REPORTS. I loved picking out a book (with a good accelerated reader rating, of course), reading it and taking notes and writing 3-4 drafts of a paper to turn in! In high school I only took 2 years of English before switching to collegiate level courses for my last two years – which was great because YAY no […]

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’ve Had on My Shelves Since Before Blogging

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’ve Had on My Shelves Since Before Blogging

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list making meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and it’s one of my favorite things about book blogging! Each week is a fun new topic for us all to flail over, and I love creating my own list just as much as I love perusing everyone else’s! I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic? In a weird way this topic was difficult not because I had so many books on my shelves from before I started blogging, but in realizing how many unread books I have on my shelf from after I started blogging! *hides under every rock imaginable* But look, it’s really not my fault that I got on twitter and met all of you and you kept telling me about all these amazing books, now, is it?! NOPE. I blame all of you. Oh, but anyways. So the thing with this prompt was books on our shelves from before blogging – so that’s what I’ve come up with! All 10 of these were added to my bookshelves before blogging, before twitter, and some even *gasp* before goodreads! Some of them […]

Book People Talk Movies: Sahara

Book People Talk Movies: Sahara

For info on Book People Talk Movies, (or to submit a guest-post-recommendation!), click here! This month’s Book People Talk Movies theme is: Sometimes you watch a movie and you know it’s not going to win all the awards. You know it’s gots plot holes, you know some of the acting is subpar. But you know what else? You love it anyway. 😉 Ok, so I’ll start with a HUGE WALLOPING DISCLAIMER: I know this is based off a book by Clive Cussler, I have not read said book, I know that some majorly scheisty stuff went down between producers/writers/whomever and Clive Cussler’s people (and/or Clive himself), I have heard that it’s a horrific adaptation, and I know that it probably doesn’t do the book justice. ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO FREAKIN MUCH. There’s a reason it’s in the “so bad it’s good” month, though, and it’s namely that some of the plot is a bit rushed, the love story is flimsy at best (and kind-of James Bond-ish, if that makes any sense?), and Dirk is a bit too amazing to believe. BUT GUESS WHAT I DON’T CARE BECAUSE I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO FREAKIN MUCH. Anywhooooooo, the […]

Top (Thirty) Tuesday: Topics That Will Make Me Go All Grabby Hands

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list making meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and it’s one of my favorite things about book blogging! Each week is a fun new topic for us all to flail over, and I love creating my own list just as much as I love perusing everyone else’s! I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic? Ok, so technically this week is a freebie week, but this is the topic that I chose to go with! Sometimes I’m reading a synopsis for a book and I get to certain phrase or a certain descriptor and I’m just like, “OK SOLD STOP TALKING I’M READY TO READ IT NOW.” These are the top 10 topics/descriptors that make me add a book to my Goodreads list, although I’m sure there are others. (Because we bookworms are crazy and can never have enough reasons to make us pick up a book, amirite?!) The Last Summer | This Is How I’d Love You | The Girl on the Cliff World War I is so horrifically fascinating, because (mainly in comparison to WWII), there […]

I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic? Ella Minnow Pea || ★★★★ How I Found It: Honestly, I don’t even reetmember! Why I Picked It Up: I loved the idea of a small town that was losing it’s ability to use certain letters. The entire book is written in letters, and I loved seeing all the different ways they would get their point across when they couldn’t use certain words. Addition || ★★★ How I Found It: It was face out in the bookstore that I work at, and the cover was just so adorable! Why I Picked It Up: The blurb sounded really interesting, and I’m pretty sure I had a gift card to spend! Keeping Time || ★★★★ How I Found It: It was on the New Arrivals table at my bookstore.
