Top Ten Tuesday | Books Set in Another Country

Top Ten Tuesday | Books Set in Another Country

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list making meme hosted for years by The Broke and the Bookish, and now by That Artsy Reader Girl – it’s one of my favorite things about book blogging! Each week is a fun new topic for us all to flail over, and I love creating my own list just as much as I love perusing everyone else’s! I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic: Books That Take Place in Another Country True to #booknip form, I went through my books and decided to do this with all historical fiction war novels! I was actually surprised I was able to find ten different countries, even though it took me going through 3-4 wars to find one for each country. The Woman Who Heard Color ★★★★★    The War That Saved My Life ★★★★★ Between Shades of Gray ★★★★★ For Freedom ★★★★★ Uprooted ★★★★ At The Water’s Edge ★★★★ Villa Triste ★★★★★ The Girl on the Cliff ★★★★ The Kitchen Boy ★★★★★ The Perfume Garden ★★★ Have you read any of these books? What country is the favorite setting for you to read about? Let’s […]

Top Ten Tuesday | Books That *Shocked* Me!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list making meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and it’s one of my favorite things about book blogging! Each week is a fun new topic for us all to flail over, and I love creating my own list just as much as I love perusing everyone else’s! I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic: I decided to interpret this a little loosely (just a little!) because books can shock us in all kinds of ways. I mentioned ten books that legitimately shocked me plot-wise, and three that shocked me because I wasn’t expecting to enjoy them as much as I did! (Also, just as a side note: Normally, if there’s a twist, I’m so completely sucked into the story and the characters and the plot that I completely miss it until it’s already happened – both with movies and with books. For that reason, any book that promises a crazy twist almost always gets me .. but some definitely more than others!) Edenbrooke | Kingdom of Ash and Briars | Summers at Castle Auburn Two of these books were recommended […]

Each week is a fun new topic for us all to flail over, and I love creating my own list just as much as I love perusing everyone else’s! I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic: Top Ten Book Boyfriends Ok, so *insert laughter here*, I actually thought this prompt would be difficult … and then I started going through my Goodreads and realized there were actually quite a few fictional beaus I could hitch my wagon to, if you catch my drift. Here goes nothing – my top *cough* ten *cough* book boyfriends!    Angus. Jamie. Red. These are the MEN of my dreams – strong, capable, loyal, swoon-worthy to a fault. Generous of mind and spirit, fiercely protective, and oh, did I mention devilishly handsome? Mycroft. Jack. Lane. Porter. Jared. Honestly, give me a bad boy any day of the week – most of the time that bad boy exterior is hiding some serious near-perfection and let’s be real – […]

Top Ten Tuesday: Hidden Gems of Both HistFic and YA

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly list making meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, and it’s one of my favorite things about book blogging! Each week is a fun new topic for us all to flail over, and I love creating my own list just as much as I love perusing everyone else’s! I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic? Top Ten Hidden Gems (Five of Which Are Historical Fiction) (Five of Which are YA/MG) (& Two of Which Are Series) Ok, so let’s start by getting one thing out of the way. Each and every one of these books (and for the series, every book within said series) has less than TWO THOUSAND ratings on Goodreads. This, to me, is a travesty upon travesties. Each one of these books got at least 4 stars from me, if not FIVE GLOWING stars. I mean, FIVE GLOWING STARS and not even 2,000 ratings?! What even goes on, amirite?! If this post can get even one person to add even one of these books to their TBR, I will consider it a massive success … if I can […]

Top Ten Tuesday: Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start

I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic? Top Ten Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start (…but haven’t) Just one small precursory thing before y’all start reading this … I really have no good excuse for any of this. *hangs head* Okay, so I’ve owned Finnikin of the Rock for about, oh, um, three years now?? I really have no good excuse for why I haven’t started this series yet, especially considering it has (wonderfully) wrecked so many of my friends’ lives!! I have read two of Susanna Keasley’s books and they were both SO. DAMN. GOOD. I own 4 (FOUR!) of her other books, but have yet to read them (two of which are from this series, The Slains). The best reason I can come up with is that her books are very […]

I’ve found both amazing books to add to my TBR pile, and amazing people to add to my life! This week’s topic? Top Ten Authors To Meet – Spun Your Way I thought about how I wanted to do this topic for a while, but eventually decided that as much fun as I have meeting authors (and I really do!!), and that as many present day really interesting and cool authors exist, I wanted to go a different way. One thing I’ve thought about a lot is that question of “If you could meet any 10 people in the world, who would they be?” – but I like to take it a bit further and imagine if I were meeting those 10 people all at once, and they were meeting each other too … which is why I decided to come up with a seating chart […]
